Every single month, we come together as a community to read through a script together! It may be a brand-new script, an old classic, a musical, or an original by a local playwright. If you would like to read, roles are randomly assigned (or requested, if you have a dream role you'd love to play). Don't feel like reading out loud this month? Come on out just to listen! New people are always welcome.
At Bramble, we care about creating opportunities for more people to be involved in theatre. Script reads are our most consistent, low-barrier, accessible way that we do this. To be updated about upcoming script reads join our mailing list and follow us on Instagram.

Our next script read is happening on Wednesday, June 11th at 6:30pm! We will be meeting at Douglas Park (801 W 22nd Ave, Vancouver BC). In the case of rain, we will be moving to 6088 Minoru BLVD, Richmond BC. We will post a weather update on our instagram story in the case of an indoor pivot.
This month, we will be reading Sayle Island, not exactly by Emmet Cameron. It’s the end of summer circa 2010, & single mom Heather is trying to herd her teenage daughter Geordie (or is he her son?), her preschooler Issey (or is she in kindergarten?) & her (allegedly) adult brother Ryan to the ferry dock in time to meet her mother & her mother’s best friend who have promised (or threatened) some kind of surpise. Sayle Island, not exactly is a contemporary-ish family drama with comedic elements which takes place inside each character’s memories from different points in their lives.
Script reads are a way to get to know new plays, meet people, and stay engaged with your acting in the chillest environment! At Bramble, we hope to create ways for people to keep engaging with theatre outside of working on shows.
Everyone is welcome - bring a device to read off of and come on out to read a script with us.
