Every single month, we come together as a community to read through a script together! It may be a brand-new script, an old classic, a musical, or an original by a local playwright. If you would like to read, roles are randomly assigned (or requested, if you have a dream role you'd love to play). Don't feel like reading out loud this month? Come on out just to listen! New people are always welcome.
At Bramble, we care about creating opportunities for more people to be involved in theatre. Script reads are our most consistent, low-barrier, accessible way that we do this. To be updated about upcoming script reads join our mailing list and follow us on Instagram.
Script Reads give you...
A casual gathering space for artists to meet and hang out!
Chances to hear new scripts
A low-stakes way to get involved with Bramble
Opportunities to practice doing cold-reads and flex your acting skills
The delight of getting to play unique characters
The chance to read a script you love or that you wrote! We take suggestions—message us on instagram or email us if you have one!
Our next script read is happening on Wednesday, March 18th at 7:00 pm! We will post the script read's location closer to that date.
This month, we will be reading Assistance by Leslye Headland. Assistance is a fast-paced corporate satire following the various assistants of a ruthless, demanding CEO. Because of their boss' overpowering and often illogical nature, the assistants quickly learn that their salaries and aspirations of promotion come at a heavy cost.
Script reads are a way to get to know new plays, meet people, and stay engaged with your acting in the chillest environment! At Bramble, we hope to create ways for people to keep engaging with theatre outside of working on shows.
Everyone is welcome - bring a device to read off of and come on out to read a script with us.
